Podcast: Start-ups – coveted companies of the future

“Why are start-ups so important? Do they also create jobs of the future alongside producing new ideas?” asks Lars Hofmann, Editor at Info Jobs HR in a podcast about working conditions in newly established companies. Hofmann also reports on the Hesse region’s master plan to transform the entire Rhine-Main area into a more attractive location for company founders.

At 04:00 and 18:45, you can hear Chief Technology Officer Thomas Ullmann at IoT Venture GmbH talking about the company’s business model, working in a technology centre and business incubator, and working times and conditions in start-ups. Set to launch onto the market with its products and services for the Internet of Things in Autumn 2018, the company is still looking for talented software developers in areas such as embedded systems.

IoT Venture GmbH is focusing its offerings on the Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN), mainly using NB-IoT narrowband technology. This technology impresses due to its low energy requirements, effective building penetration and wide range and represents an inexpensive solution for the Internet of Things. What’s more, it also makes use of existing networks. It allows things to be networked which have never been networked before or have previously been unable to network.

IoT Venture GmbH’s services comprise the required software and hardware (embedded systems) and the necessary data platform (middleware). The company is opening up opportunities for its clients to benefit from completely new digital business models. IoT Venture GmbH offers its range for a wide variety of applications across different industries. It is about to launch two business activities onto the market: property technology and a tracking solution for bicycles with the “It’s my bike”. Another application field is luggage and transport logistics. Deutsche Telekom AG is the company’s technology partner. IoT Venture GmbH is part of the globally active investment and service holding company mind venture AG, which has a workforce of 500 at 15 locations.
